Album Info:The Grand Trunk Railway of Canada opened the first Montreal-Toronto between 1852 and 1856. It continued service until 1922-23 when it merged with the then newly formed Canadian National Railways.

Description:  The Point St. Charles shops were originally opened by the Grand Trunk Railway in 1852. Transfered to Canadian National in 1923, they were sold to Alstom in 1996. New AMT facilities are due to be built on the site shortly. Seen here from the window of a moving AMT St. Hilaire eastbound commuter train.

Description:  The original Grand Trunk Railway stone station in Brockville was built in 1856 on the other side of the track. The present VIA Rail brick station was built by the GTR in the 1870s.
